Innovative superstructures for electric city trucks

ORTEN presents customised solutions for sustainable fleets on the way to emission-free and climate-friendly mobility at NUFAM 2023

At this year’s NUFAM in Karlsruhe (21 – 24 September), ORTEN Fahrzeugbau GmbH, headquartered in Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle and with a branch in Rothnaußlitz/Saxony, will once again be demonstrating its expertise as a body specialist that is both tradition-conscious and future-oriented. The focus is on vehicle concepts for beverage, automotive, waste disposal and transport logistics that make goods transport more efficient and the handling of loads safer and more ergonomic. The variety of customised superstructures – from the Kettliner to the SafeServer to the Citylifter and Sideliner – testifies to professionalism and profound knowledge of logistics needs.

In addition, representatives of the independent start-up company ORTEN Electric-Trucks, based in Wittlich-Wengerohr, will also be at the commercial vehicle show and will report on the latest developments in the field of conversion from combustion to electric drives.

Proven vehicle technology

Visitors to the trade fair can find out about the innovations and special features of the continuously developed body concepts at the main stand A230 in hall 2 and on the open-air site. The body specialist’s priorities continue to be constructive and ergonomic solutions for time-saving and safe handling of the technology as well as increasing the load volume through lightweight construction.

The fully electric 18-tonne Renault truck on display will be used as an example to demonstrate and explain the body technology. The E-TECH D WIDE 4X2 is equipped with an ORTEN SafeServer beverage body and with a BÄR
“Softlock” tail lift.

The energy source of the E-TECH consists of a traction battery of 264 kWh 600 V (4 battery packs a 66 kWh in the wheelbase, NMC cells water-cooled). The vehicle has a range of up to 200 km (up to 285 km with 94 kWh batteries), depending on the load, topography and speed. Charging can be done at a fast charging station with DC 150 kW in 2 hours, via wallbox or CEE 32 A industrial socket with AC 22 kW in 10 hours.

The beverage box designed for distribution transport – with internal dimensions of approx. 6200 mm x 2450 x 2155 as well as a loading height in the driving position of 1190 mm and in the lowered position of 1100 mm – is closed at the sides by special SafeServer sliding tarpaulins, fastened and tensioned at the front and rear. All this is done in less than 15 seconds. At the customer’s request, numerous individual load securing components have been installed.

The Renault E-TECH can be booked for test drives and offers an excellent entry point for any company looking to move towards decarbonised beverage logistics.
