As the Chief Design Officer of City Transformer, I want to share with you the challenges we encountered while designing our future serial model, the CT-2, and the remarkable progress we have made.
In this challenging process, I have brought with me not only the inspirational experience I had in companies like IDEO, Volvo, and Skoda but also the love and passion for the art of miniaturization. Especially in its most clanging and extrema condition.
These unconventional proportions were driven by the need for efficient packaging. We faced the question of how to reduce the dimensions of a vehicle by 75% without compromising driver comfort and usability. Meticulous design became the answer. Each component has been thoughtfully positioned to maximize ergonomics and ensure efficient use of space.
Designing the CT-2 presented unique challenges due to its unconventional proportions. Our aim was not just to create a microcar but to design a space that could accommodate a driver as comfortably as a full-sized SUV, all while adhering to our brand’s design guidelines.
The lessons we gained from our prototype, the CT-1, and the invaluable feedback we received throughout its lifecycle, have played a pivotal role in shaping the CT-2. We have refined the vehicle’s functionality, comfort, and aesthetic details based on input from our users, investors, and auto enthusiasts. We have also addressed the complexities of the shape-shifting mechanism, enhancing both its style and ergonomic usability.
