“The TWIKE 5 will be more efficient, more comfortable and more suitable for everyday use than previous models,” says Martin Möscheid, managing director of TWIKE GmbH. It weighs around 600 kg, offers space for two people, reaches a speed of up to 190 km/h and over 500 km range. Just as innovative as the battery concept with bidirectional charging electronics is the side-stick steering via two intuitively operated steering levers on the side.
The manufacturer of the pedal hybrid vehicle TWIKE looks back on a long history. As early as 1986, the original TWIKE was developed, a two-seater recumbent bike with a closed body that was powered by pure muscle power. The TWIKE 5 also allows a fitness-promoting workout while riding. Its pedal system has an integrated generator that simultaneously produces energy during fitness training, thus enabling greater range.
Numerous advance orders signal great interest in latest model
Series production of the TWIKE 5 will start in early 2023. There are already 1,600 concrete prospective buyers, and advance payments of around EUR 4.8 million have been made. In order to pre-finance the production costs, the crowdinvesting campaign has now been launched. The Family & Friends phase has already raised over
350,000 euros. The target amount is 2 million euros. “At TWIKE, we have always strongly involved our community in the development. So it is only logical that we also give customers and fans of our vehicle the opportunity to participate in the success of the TWIKE when it comes to financing,” says Martin Möscheid.
